Raised in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. At the age of 37, he entered Taiheiyo Art School, studied under Shiko Munakata the following year, and became a member of the Japan Board. In addition to being active in the Pacific Exhibition, he was invited to exhibit at the CWAJ Contemporary Print Exhibition.
