I have for sale an antique Japanese woodblock print on paper. It is framed in a matte glass front, gilt wood frame. I believe it is originally a spread from a manuscript/book. The two pages are glued together at the center. I depicts a dramatic scene from a Noh play? That shows a hooded intruder kidnapping a woman in kimono geisha? The samurai and the wife? Are surprised, and is trying to stop the assault I may be wrong, but that seems to be what is going on. Sorry, I don't know Japanese Alternately, it may be a scene from a famous novel/literature, or documenting/retelling of a true event from history There are dense writing all around the edges of the image The artist's signature may also be on the bottom of the page.
Please note that there are three holes on the paper: Two long ones, and one smaller. Approximate size of the paper is: 8 1/2" by 6 7/8". Dimensions of the frame are: 11 5/8" by 9 1/2". This is a very old, unusual traditional artwork. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Prints".
